When Anxiety Comes & Goes
Anxiety is a strange thing.
Sometimes it shows up quietly, like a whisper in the back of my mind. Other times it arrives all at once and settles in for days, making even the simplest parts of life feel heavier than they should. What people don’t always realize about anxiety is that it isn’t just a moment of stress. It can be physical. It can be mental. And when it lingers, it can be exhausting.
There are days where I feel like myself. Focused, motivated, and able to move through life’s responsibilities with clarity, and then there are days when anxiety decides to stay awhile. My mind races, my body feels tense, and even routine tasks start to feel overwhelming.
It’s not always tied to one specific thing. Sometimes it’s the weight of responsibilities. Sometimes it’s finances, schedules, or the endless list of things that need attention as I wrote about the other day. Other times it’s life events that sit quietly in the background but still carry emotional weight. When anxiety sticks around for days, it can drain you in ways that are hard to explain. Mentally, it feels like your brain never fully turns off. Physically, it can leave you tired before the day even really begins.
But something I’ve been learning is that anxiety, like many things in life, comes and goes. Some days it’s louder. Some days it fades into the background. And on the days when it feels overwhelming, I try to remind myself that it won’t stay forever.
There’s strength in simply continuing to move forward, even if the steps are smaller than usual. Life doesn’t pause while we navigate stress, responsibilities, and the unexpected challenges that come our way. But there’s also something powerful in acknowledging those struggles instead of pretending they don’t exist.
If you’ve ever felt this way too, you’re not alone, and if today happens to be a harder day, it’s okay to slow down, breathe, and take things one step at a time.
Tomorrow might feel a little lighter.
P.S. I did want to provide an update regarding the search to find my father. I had a man reach out to me just yesterday and while I will remain to keep this as private as I can for everyone involved, I will continue to provide vague but informational updates of this journey as promised. For now, He knew my mom, was close with her, and we will be pursuing the right path to see if what we might believe is true.
Talk to you soon.
